East Midlands Mayor Launches 12-Week Consultation on Transport Vision
The Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, has launched a 12-week public consultation as part of the development of a new 15-year transport strategy for the region. The initiative, called the Big Transport Conversation, invites residents, businesses, and stakeholders to provide input on the draft East Midlands Local Transport Plan, which covers Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, and Nottinghamshire.
The draft plan aims to improve travel across the region by making it easier, cleaner, and better connected. Key objectives include enhancing access to jobs, education, healthcare, and other services, while supporting inclusive growth and sustainable transport solutions.
Mayor Ward described the consultation as “an opportunity for people across the East Midlands to help shape a transport network that meets the needs of communities today and in the decades ahead.” The feedback collected over the 12-week period will inform the final version of the Local Transport Plan, guiding investment and development in the region’s transport infrastructure over the next 15 years.
The consultation is open to all residents, businesses, and organisations with an interest in transport and connectivity, and the Mayor’s office is encouraging widespread participation to ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of the entire region.
Anyone interested can take part via the East Midlands Combined Authority website. Residents and organisations can provide feedback through online surveys, virtual workshops, and community events scheduled across the region.
