Rachel is WSP’s UK&I Managing Director for Transport & Mobility. She also sits on the UK&I Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for ESG & Government Relations.

In 2020-21, Rachel served as the 156th President of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the youngest ever to fulfil this role in over 200 years. She holds a range of non-executive roles, is a Patron of Women in Transport (having been one of its founding board members in 2005) and a Patron of the Women’s Engineering Society.

She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019 and is a chartered engineer and a chartered transport planner. Rachel was awarded honorary doctorates from both the University of Leeds (2022) and the University of Exeter (2024) for services to engineering and industry diversity, and is an honorary fellow of the Society for the Environment (2021).

Rachel was awarded a CBE for services to infrastructure in the 2022 New Year Honours list.

For Interchange, Rachel chairs the Steering Group. In the context of ICGLive, she also chairs the Climate Task Group of the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG) that convenes senior peers from water, energy, transport and digital client organisations for faster change on decarbonisation, climate resilience and natural capital. She also chairs the ICE’s Decarbonisation Community Forum to underpin and push real change amongst technical practitioners.
