Andy is Divisional Director for Regional Partnership and Delivery in the Department for Transport, leading DfT’s relationships with the seven Sub-National Transport Bodies and local transport and highway authorities across England, having previously held other regional roles including working with Transport for the North on the early options for the Northern Powerhouse Rail project. Andy has been in the DfT for over 20 years, and has mainly worked in project and programme delivery and sponsorship roles including on High Speed 2, a 5 year stint looking after the National Roads Programme, working with local authorities on innovative local congestion charging pilots, and overseeing delivery of the Government’s 2010 targets for road casualty reduction. Originally a civil engineer, Andy's background before joining the Department for Transport was in local government and consultancy developing, delivering and clienting capital projects and programmes.
