Nicola Kane
Chair, Transport Planning Society; director Steer
Nicola is responsible for Steer’s client relationships across the North of England and Scotland, providing expertise in strategic transport planning, major scheme business cases, and land use integration. She is also Chair of the Transport Planning Society (TPS). Nicola joined Steer in 2022 from Transport for Greater Manchester, where she led the city region’s fourth local transport plan, Five-Year Transport Delivery Plan, and key policy initiatives including Streets for All and decarbonisation strategies. She has extensive experience in complex stakeholder environments, innovation pilots, and transport research, and serves on multiple advisory boards including the Institute of Transport Studies at the University of Leeds.
