Improved and integrated transport connections are at the heart of metro mayors’ ambitious plans for city regions. These major transport infrastructure projects must be delivered in the most sustainable ways to reduce impact on communities, retain economic value and reduce environmental impact.

Multi-modal logistics using rail freight and eHGVs to transport essential construction materials for last mile logistics are part of the sustainable, low carbon solution. Yet often not enough strategic focus is given to where materials are made and how they are they transported.

This Tarmac roundtable will bring together transport professionals from the public and private sectors together with clients and contractors to discuss how the transport priorities of government and city regions can set a new blueprint for exemplar multi-modal delivery.

Together we will discuss:

  • The potential for multi-modal logistics using rail freight – the opportunities and threats with rail reform

  • The opportunity for projects to electrify supply chains with eHGVs for last mile logistics and the benefits

  • The exemplar projects and their key learnings

  • The regional and national government policy support which is required to help drive multi -modal construction logistics
