Patricia Thornley
Chief Scientific Adviser, DfT
Patricia is the Chief Scientific Adviser for the UK Government’s Department for Transport and Professor at the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute at Aston University, from where she leads a national doctoral training centre in negative emission technologies. A fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, with 30 years’ experience in industry and academia, she has led £38M UKRI research projects with particular focus on sustainable fuels for electricity, heat and transport sectors and has had advisory roles for DfT, DESNZ, Defra, CCC, the Royal Academy of Engineering and Royal Society, as well as many overseas funding agencies.
