Tobyn Hughes
Director of Transport, North East Combined Authority
Tobyn is Director of Transport at the North East Combined Authority, leading development and delivery of a green, integrated transport system for the region and acting as principal transport adviser to the North East Mayor and Cabinet. He also serves as Director General of Nexus, overseeing the Tyne and Wear Metro, ferry, ticketing and information services and working in partnership with bus and rail operators. Tobyn has led key regional strategies (Local Transport Plan, Rail & Metro, Active Travel) and helped secure major investment, including the new Metro fleet and more affordable bus fares.
