Alistair Hitchcock
Head of Engineering & Development, Northern Powerhouse Rail
Alistair is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers with over 20 years’ experience in international transport infrastructure, including new metros, road tunnels, London Underground station upgrades, and high-speed rail projects. As Head of Engineering for HS2 Phase 2, he is responsible for all aspects of engineering and design, including assurance and CDM Principal Designer duties for Phases 2a and 2b. Alistair has extensive experience leading large multidisciplinary design teams, managing complex engineering projects, and producing cross-discipline technical proposals in the rail and metro sector. His expertise spans strategic decision-making, client relationship management, collaborative delivery, and design management at the programme and project director level.
